Since I was a young child I have battled with my weight, and as I got older my weight began causing a lot of health problems. In 2002, I was told by my MD that death was knocking on my door if I didn't do something about my weight, so he referred me to a Gastric Bypass surgeon in New Jersey. After meeting with that surgeon, I was not impressed and opted not to go thru with the Gastric Bypass. Later that year I moved to Florida, and my new Florida MD told me about Dr. Jawad and his excellent reputation. I went on to meet Dr. Jawad, and I was so impressed that I was ready to have the surgery done after my initial visit.
 I started out weighing 271 pounds, with a BMI of 43.7. One year later I lost 126 pounds and my BMI was down to 23.3, and now I weigh only 147 pounds! I can now tie my shoes, paint my own toe nails, fit into my own stadium, movie theater, and airplane seat too. I fit great in my new smaller car, and shop in the regular department stores (I am a size 6 now and what I clothing selection I have). I have even noticed that people treat me much better. My weight loss has given me a new LIFE at the age of 47, one that I am actually enjoying. I should have had this surgery done sooner, but the best doctor was not available in New Jersey, I had to travel 1200 miles to find the BEST doctor. Many people have asked me if I would do this all over again, and my answer is YES, as long as it's Dr. Jawad doing the surgery!

 Having this surgery was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I am a new person, with more confidence and energy that I could have ever imagined. Simple things that I had struggled with, such as tying my shoes or walking up stairs, these are no longer a challenge for me any more. The best experiences that I've had since losing my weight, is that now I get to do so much more with my kids. That alone made this surgery worth it! Oh, and of course, not having to ask for an airline extension seat belt anymore!!! I could say so much more... However, I would like to thank Dr. Jawad and the entire crew for giving me a new life, a life that I would have never known if it weren't for them. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
