Since I was a young child I have battled with my weight, and as I got older my weight began causing a lot of health problems. In 2002, I was told by my MD that death was knocking on my door if I didn't do something about my weight, so he referred me to a Gastric Bypass surgeon in New Jersey. After meeting with that surgeon, I was not impressed and opted not to go thru with the Gastric Bypass. Later that year I moved to Florida, and my new Florida MD told me about Dr. Jawad and his excellent reputation. I went on to meet Dr. Jawad, and I was so impressed that I was ready to have the surgery done after my initial visit.
I started out weighing 271 pounds, with a BMI of 43.7. One year later I lost 126 pounds and my BMI was down to 23.3, and now I weigh only 147 pounds! I can now tie my shoes, paint my own toe nails, fit into my own stadium, movie theater, and airplane seat too. I fit great in my new smaller car, and shop in the regular department stores (I am a size 6 now and what I clothing selection I have). I have even noticed that people treat me much better. My weight loss has given me a new LIFE at the age of 47, one that I am actually enjoying. I should have had this surgery done sooner, but the best doctor was not available in New Jersey, I had to travel 1200 miles to find the BEST doctor. Many people have asked me if I would do this all over again, and my answer is YES, as long as it's Dr. Jawad doing the surgery!

When I made the decision to have weight loss surgery I weighed 252. I now weigh 130. The RNY Gastric Bypass surgery was performed by Dr. Jawad in January 2004. I have had no complications and am thankful for Dr. Jawad's abilities. The surgery was the best decision I could have ever made for myself. I have never felt more healthy and confident.

 I moved back to Florida three and a half years ago and weighed anywhere from 250 to 275 pounds, and I was extremely unhappy with myself. However, it was not till August of 2005, when we took a family portrait that I realized how overweight I actually was. I finally went and called the 800 number that I had in my purse for 2 months for the Gastric Bypass surgery.
I went in, and I had the surgery, and I have no regrets whatsoever. It has been the best decision I have ever made in my life. I have gone from wearing a size 24 pants, to a size 6 pants, and the energy I now have is boundless. I thoroughly enjoy life now, and even my children have noticed that I'm not such a miserable person to be around. I have to thank Dr. Jawad so much for putting the advertisement on TV about Gastric Bypass, because I can actually have fun in life now.

 Throughout my life I have tried weight loss programs, systems, and fad diets, and all of them worked... for a while, but inevitably the weight would return. The pounds that I lost would inevitably return and it seemed that each pound I lost would return with a friend. Time and time again I would lose weight and then gain it back. I got heavier and heavier with each failed diet attempt… till I chose Gastric Bypass Surgery.
Why the gastric bypass surgery?
I wanted to be able to play with my children without worrying about how to get up off the floor, I wanted to ride in an airplane and NOT have to ask for a seat belt extender. I want to push my daughter's stroller around the block and NOT get short of breath. I wanted the chance to stop taking lbuprofen every night because my hips and knees hurt so much from the day. I wanted to take my children to Disney World and NOT have to rent a scooter because I couldn't walk around the theme parks. I wanted to grow old with my husband and NOT worry that my weight will bring me to an early death. I wanted to go horseback riding again and have my pick of the barn.
I was tired of NOT being able to sit in a booth at a restaurant because I'm too fat! I was just sick and tired of being sick and tired ! Something's had to give! I needed to be here for my family and for my children and this yo-yo dieting was going to kill me before a heart attack could. I was tired of asking my loving husband to help me off the couch, or out of the car. It was for these reasons that I felt I need to have this procedure done by Dr. Jawad in Ocala-as soon as I could.
I had my surgery on August 31, 2004 and have lost almost 200 pounds (from my heaviest weight) and I am still losing. I have never been happier and now, I can have fun in life again. I have met all my goals and am making new ones each day. I can go grocery shopping and not feel like everyone else is judging me by what I put in my cart. I can tie my shoes without having to hold my breath. I can cross my legs like a lady and am having a great time flirting with my husband again.
My life is so much better now and my only regret is that I didn't have the surgery sooner. The surgery is not a cure-all-to-fix-all, but with the right attitude and discipline, it is possible for anyone. If my story sounds familiar, then I know how it feels and would encourage the reader to seriously consider having the surgery and listen to Dr. Jawad and his staff. Follow the rules and you, too, can be half the person you are today!

 Since having my surgery with Dr. Jawad, my life has really changed. I've lost over 110 pounds and I feel great. I have more energy to chase my wife around, I don't need my blood pressure pills any more, I'm off all of my medications and am only taking my vitamins. I am able to sit in a booth at a restaurant, and my wife and I share meals now. I can take my kids on the roller coaster without having to worry, as I can now pull the guard rail down over me and fit into the seats. I went from a size 46 waist and 54 jacket, to a 32 waist and 42 jacket!!!!
I recommend the surgery as it's improved my health, and not only do I feel great, but I look great too. I thank God for Dr. Jawad and his staff, they have been excellent. They walk you thru the surgery process, and are always there to help and assist you. Again, I think this surgery is incredible, and highly recommend it.

 Having this surgery was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I am a new person, with more confidence and energy that I could have ever imagined. Simple things that I had struggled with, such as tying my shoes or walking up stairs, these are no longer a challenge for me any more. The best experiences that I've had since losing my weight, is that now I get to do so much more with my kids. That alone made this surgery worth it! Oh, and of course, not having to ask for an airline extension seat belt anymore!!! I could say so much more... However, I would like to thank Dr. Jawad and the entire crew for giving me a new life, a life that I would have never known if it weren't for them. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
